Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen Pence both voted by mail in Indiana’s June primary election, though President Donald Trump has continuously attacked mail-in ballots.

The Pences’ vote-by-mail was first reported by Business Insider, which reported that the couple voted in Indiana’s June GOP primary election.

The vice president has not lived at the address that he used to vote since 2016, though it is legal for Pence and his wife to vote from the Indiana address provided they don’t register to vote in Washington, D.C.

Immediately prior to coming into President Donald Trump’s administration, Mike Pence was the governor of Indiana.

Trump has regularly attacked mail-in voting. In a tweet on Monday, he wrote, “If people can go out and protest, riot, break into stores, and create all sorts of havoc, they can also go out and VOTE — and keep our election honest. With millions of mail-in ballots being sent out, who knows where they are going and to whom.”

Earlier in the day, Trump tweeted, “Because of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, 2020 will be the most RIGGED Election in our nations history – unless this stupidity is ended. We voted during World War One & World War Two with no problem, but now they are using Covid in order to cheat by using Mail-Ins!”

In late May, Trump tweeted, “MAIL-IN VOTING WILL LEAD TO MASSIVE FRAUD AND ABUSE. IT WILL ALSO LEAD TO THE END OF OUR GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY. WE CAN NEVER LET THIS TRAGEDY BEFALL OUR NATION.”

Trump also voted by mail in Florida and he defended criticism of any hypocrisy, saying, “If somebody has to mail it in because they’re sick or, by the way, because they live in the White House and they have to vote in Florida and they won’t be in Florida — if there’s a reason for it, that’s okay.”
