M&M's Roasted After Revealing 'All-Female Character' Packages

Share

Candy maker Mars is facing mockery for unveiling limited edition packaging for M&M’s meant to “celebrate women.”

In a tweet, culture news site Pop Base wrote, “M&M’s are set to release their first ever all-female character packages.”

One Twitter user wrote, “I hope this includes all m&ms that identify as female as well. Please don’t exclude the peanut m&ms. Having nuts doesn’t make them any less female if that’s what they choose.”

Comedian Gianmarco Soresi tweeted, “Take that roe v wade getting overturned!”

“Every young girl should aspire to be an M&M when they grow up. The true trailblazers,” conservative podcast host Lisa Boothe joked.

The Daily Wire’s Twitter account wrote, “One step towards equal representation in candy mascots.”

Attorney Kyla Lee wrote, “All this work I’ve been doing to break down gender barriers and it turns out M&Ms was gatekeeping equality through candy packages. Thank god we are finally equal now.”

CNN reported Tuesday, “Candy maker Mars announced that the limited edition all-female pack will include only Purple, Brown and Green — the candy’s trio of female characters, who are upside-down on the package — to ‘celebrate women everywhere who are flipping the status quo.’ The packs are currently on sale.”

Gabrielle Wesley, chief marketing officer for Mars Wrigley North America, said in a press release, “The M&M’S brand is on a mission to use the power of fun to create purposeful connections, as we work to create a world where everyone feels they belong.”

The packaging will offer candy buyers milk chocolate, peanut, or peanut butter M&M’s.
