MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace nodded along and flashed a smile on “The Best People with Nicolle Wallace” Monday as Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker claimed Antifa does not even exist.
Antifa garnered substantial attention during the Black Lives Matter 2020 riots, playing a significant role in several Democratic-led cities, including Seattle and Portland. Pritzker claimed on Wallace’s show that President Donald Trump says “Democrats are Antifa,” but there is no definition for it and it is “mythical.”

“He is literally just threatening people that are his political opponents. And you’ve heard him do that writ large against Democrats, calling us essentially terrorists and saying that Democrats are Antifa,” Pritzker said. “And again, no one’s really defined what that is. It’s just some mythical thing out there that he thinks anybody that’s opposed to him belongs to. It’s sad.”
Trump designated Antifa as a “domestic terrorist organization” in a September executive order, which contains a definition.
“Antifa is a militarist, anarchist enterprise that explicitly calls for the overthrow of the United States Government, law enforcement authorities, and our system of law,” it states.
Trump directed his administration in the executive order to “utilize all applicable authorities to investigate, disrupt, and dismantle any and all illegal operations.” The Department of Justice on Oct. 16 brought its first federal terrorism case against two people connected to Antifa who allegedly coordinated a July attack on a Texas federal immigration detention facility.
Other Democrats and commentators on corporate media networks have also claimed that Antifa does not exist.
“There’s no Antifa,” ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel said. “This is an entirely imaginary organization. There is not an Antifa.”
Trump also announced on Oct. 8 that he intended to designate Antifa as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).
Moreover, the White House on Oct. 8 hosted a roundtable featuring independent journalists, who recounted violent attacks they faced while covering Antifa protests.
