Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) introduced a bill to give Kyle Rittenhouse the Congressional Gold Medal.
The bill’s full text is not yet available. Still, the summary says the bill would “award a Congressional Gold Medal to Kyle H. Rittenhouse, who protected the community of Kenosha, Wisconsin, during a Black Lives Matter (BLM) riot on August 25, 2020.”
Greene said in a statement to The Hill, “Kyle Rittenhouse deserves to be remembered as a hero who defended his community, protected businesses, and acted lawfully in the face of lawlessness. I’m proud to file this legislation to award Kyle Rittenhouse a Congressional Gold Medal.”
Last week, Rittenhouse was acquitted on all charges. He fatally shot two individuals and injured another during unrest that broke out following the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
Greene previously praised Rittenhouse after he met with former President Donald Trump.
“Two men I greatly admire along with a mother who has had to endure more than she ever thought she could. Kyle thanks Pres Trump for two most important things the left is trying to destroy,” Greene tweeted.
She added, “We must always uphold our Constitution, defend our 2A, and stop our enemies who hate them.”

During an appearance on Fox News, Trump shared his experience meeting with Rittenhouse, as IJR reported.
“I got to know him a little bit. He called, wanted to know if he could come over and say hello because he was a fan, unlike the other guy,” Trump said.
Calling Rittenhouse a “good guy,” Trump added, “He should never have been put through that. That was prosecutorial misconduct, and it’s happening all over the United States right now with the Democrats.”
Several other Republicans praised Rittenhouse. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) tweeted, “Justice was served for [Kyle Rittenhouse] and he is fully exonerated. As I said last year, obviously self-defense.”
