White House Physician Dr. Sean Conley says that the medical team at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center has concluded that it is safe for President Donald Trump to be discharged from the hospital.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Conley said, “Over the past 24 hours, the president has continued to improve. He’s met or exceeded all standard hospital discharge criteria.”
He said that Trump would receive another dose of remdesivir at the hospital before he returns to the White House. He also said it had been 72 hours since Trump had a fever, and his oxygen levels “are all normal.”
“Though he may not entirely out of the woods yet, the team and I agree that all our evaluations and most importantly his clinical status support the president’s safe return home, where he’ll be surrounded by world-class medical care 24/7,” he added.

Early Friday morning, Trump revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19, and later in the day, he was transferred to Walter Reed for observation.
By Monday, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows expressed optimism that Trump could be discharged later in the day as he said the president’s condition had improved.
While Conley said that the medical team agreed that it was safe for Trump to return, he declined to answer several questions about the president’s health, such as when he received his last negative coronavirus test.
Additionally, he was asked if scans of the president’s lungs had revealed any inflammation. Conley said, “We’ve done routine standard imaging. I’m just not at liberty to discuss.”
He also said privacy laws would prevent him from answering questions about whether or not his bloodwork had shown anything abnormal.
Trump announced on Twitter that he would be leaving Walter Reed on Monday, as IJR reported. Trump wrote, “I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid.”

“Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!” he added.
