A South Miami woman is facing serious felony charges after police say she attacked her boyfriend with a machete during a violent confrontation at her home.
Officers first made contact with the victim at the South Miami Hospital Emergency Department, where doctors were treating a “deep laceration” to his right elbow, according to Fox News.
The man told investigators the wound came from a fight with his girlfriend, 49-year-old Liz Frechel.
According to the arrest report, the trouble began the night of Nov. 20 during a date at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Fontainebleau.
The man said the two got into a tense argument after he confronted Frechel about a photo that appeared to show her hugging and holding hands with another man. He told police he left her at the restaurant as the dispute escalated.
The following day, Nov. 21, he drove to Frechel’s home near Southwest 72nd Street and 62nd Avenue in Miami to return her medication, glasses and a mug. When he arrived, he said Frechel became enraged and began yelling at him.
Police said the situation quickly turned dangerous. Once inside Frechel’s bedroom, the victim told officers she “locked him inside the bedroom against his will.” She then allegedly shouted, “You are not going anywhere, you son of a b—-. You’re going to pay,” before entering her closet and pulling out a machete.
According to Law & Crime, the report states the man attempted to grab his keys and escape, but Frechel swung the blade toward him, slicing his elbow while yelling, “I’m going to kill you, you son of a b—-.”
He managed to flee the apartment and drove himself to the hospital for treatment.
Police arrested Frechel at approximately 7:15 p.m. that same evening. She was later booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center shortly before midnight.
Records reviewed by Fox News Digital show Frechel has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment with a deadly weapon.
Frechel appeared in bond court on Nov. 22. A Miami-Dade judge ordered her to have no contact with the victim. The court denied bond on the attempted murder charge and set a combined $15,000 bond for the aggravated battery and false imprisonment counts.
