A poll found roughly 35% of Americans say they would favor the United States taking military action in Ukraine even if it risks a nuclear conflict with Russia.

According to a Pew Research Center survey, 62% of Americans would oppose the U.S. taking military action in the same scenario.

When it comes to the Biden administration’s handling of the Russian invasion, 47% of Americans approve compared to 39% who disapprove.

The poll showed about 32% of Americans say the U.S. is providing the “right amount of support” to Ukraine while 42% believe the U.S. should be providing more support. Only 7% think the country is providing too much support.

Most Americans (62%) say they would oppose the U.S. taking military action in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “even if it risks a nuclear conflict with Russia.” Just 35% say they would favor military action in this scenario. https://t.co/8y3m6GYee4 pic.twitter.com/szVbj2vjFV

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered an address to Congress Wednesday, pleading for more help from the U.S., as IJR reported.

“Remember Pearl Harbor, the terrible morning of December 7, 1941, when your sky was black from the planes attacking you,” Zelenskyy said in his address. “Remember September 11, a terrible day in 2001 when evil tried to turn your cities, independent territories, into battlefields. When innocent people were attacked from the air.”

He added, “Our country is experiencing the same every day, right now, at this moment. Every night for three weeks now … Russia has turned the Ukrainian sky into a source of death for thousands of people.”

Zelenskyy addressed the president, saying, “I wish for you to be the leader of the world. Being the leader of the world means to be the leader of peace.”

Biden said on Wednesday the U.S. would provide Ukraine with an additional $800 million in military aid.

“I want to thank President Zelenskyy for his passionate message this morning. I listened to it in the private residence. He was convincing and [it was] a significant speech,” Biden said.

He continued, “We’re united in our abhorrence of Putin’s depraved onslaught and we’re going to continue to have their backs as they fight for freedom, democracy, their very survival.”
