Republicans Speak Out on Why They Are Not Getting Vaccinated

Supporters of former President Donald Trump are speaking out on why they are not getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

One Trump supporter told CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, “I don’t need a vaccine, I had COVID last march, sick for all of five hours, I don’t need a vaccine for that.”

O’Sullivan pushed back, “The CDC recommends even if you have COVID you should get vaccinated.”

The Republican responded, “They can recommend stuff.”

Another Trump supporter told O’Sullivan, “We’re the independent, freedom people of America, and we make our own decisions.”

Two Republicans claimed it is the “Trump vaccine” but still said they are unwilling to get it.

“It is the Trump vaccine. I have no intention of getting it,” one woman said.

A man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat explained, “We don’t blindly follow what President Trump did or didn’t do. It’s the fact that he promoted individual freedom and your ability to excel is why we support the movement. It was a movement. He just happened to come along at the right time to help when he did.”

During an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity last week, Trump explained that he has been asked to do a vaccine commercial, as IJR reported.

“They all want me to do a commercial because a lot of our people don’t want to take the vaccine. I don’t know what that is exactly, Republican, I don’t know what it is,” Trump said.

The former president told Hannity, “I encourage them to take it. I do … I had it and I took it.”

Trump continued, “They want me to do a commercial saying, ‘Take the vaccine,’ and they think that’s very important and I’d certainly do it.”

On Thursday, Trump took aim at the Biden administration, saying they took credit for the vaccine rollout, as IJR reported.

“Obviously they’re very ungracious people. I did the vaccine. They like to take the vaccine. But even the fake news isn’t giving them credit for that. We did the vaccine, saved tens of millions of lives throughout the world by coming up with a vaccine,” Trump said during a Fox News interview.
