Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) is receiving harsh criticism from White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany after he penned an op-ed slamming President Donald Trump for his response to the coronavirus pandemic.

During a White House press briefing on Thursday, a reporter pointed McEnany to Hogan’s comments claiming Trump left states to fend for themselves amid the outbreak and failed to listen to health experts.

McEnany explained how Hogan’s comments come as a surprise considering he has offered the president praise for his response to the crisis in the past.

“It’s really striking his comments, especially when you compare them to his past comments. This is revisionist history by Governor Hogan,” McEnany said.

McEnany provided examples of how Hogan’s latest comments about the president contradict his past comments.

According to McEnany, Hogan praised Trump for his “great communication” with governors on March 19.

She discussed the opening of Hogan’s op-ed where he illustrated how South Korea delivered testing kits to the United States on April 18.

McEnany argued Hogan said something completely different the day before the April 18 scene.

She said Hogan thanked Trump for the progress the nation had made in state and federal coordination of testing efforts in recent weeks.

McEnany reiterated Hogan’s tone toward Trump has shifted.

“So 24 hours before this dramatic opening scene of his op-ed, he literally was praising the president of the United States for delivering on testing,” McEnany said.

In his editorial, published in the Washington Post, Hogan called Trump’s response to the pandemic “hopeless,” as IJR previously reported.

This is not the first time Hogan criticized Trump for his response to the outbreak.

In March, Hogan refuted Trump’s testing claim arguing more testing is needed, as IJR previously reported.

On Wednesday, Hogan said Trump’s attempts to discredit Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert and member of the White House coronavirus task force, is “one of the biggest mistakes” he has made.
