A U.S. Secret Service agent was robbed at gunpoint, per police.

The robbery occurred on Saturday evening near a Southern California residential community, following a fundraiser for President Joe Biden, according to the Tustin Police Department.

“On arrival, officers discovered the victim was a member of the U.S. Secret Service and his bag was stolen at gunpoint. During the incident an officer(agent) involved shooting occurred,” the police department wrote on Facebook.

The release continued: “The suspect(s) were not located and it is unknown at this time whether the suspect(s) were injured as a result of the incident. Officers have located some of the victim’s belongings in the area and the incident is still being investigated. There is no known threat to the public.”

Check out the post below:

Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement that the agent was returning from a work assignment when the robbery happened, according to Politico. The agent was not injured, he also said.

Per The New York Times, “It was not immediately clear if the Secret Service agent was in California protecting Mr. Biden or Mr. Obama. The police statement did not identify the agent.”

Biden’s fundraiser event in Los Angeles raised at least $28 million, “the largest single-night haul for a Democratic candidate ever,” Politico writes.
