Democratic New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani is leading among Latino voters by double digits, according to a poll released Tuesday.

The survey, commissioned by the Hispanic Federation and conducted by Lake Research Partners, showed Mamdani securing 48% support from Latino voters, while disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo received 24% and Republican mayoral nominee Curtis Sliwa gained 14%. Meanwhile, 13% of voters said they were undecided and 2% said they were voting for someone else, according to the poll.

Additionally, Mamdani notched a 62% favorability rating among voters aged 18 to 49, while 43% of respondents aged 50 to 64 rated him favorably, according to the poll. The poll showed that 43% of Latino voters want the next mayor of New York City to focus on the cost of living and inflation.

The survey also found that Latino voters were extremely dissatisfied with the direction that New York City is heading. Of those surveyed, 62% said the Big Apple is moving in the “wrong direction” compared to just 23% who said it was moving in the “right direction.”

“The results of this poll are extremely telling of the everyday issues Latino New Yorkers face. It is not surprising that cost of living and pocketbook issues continue to be the top priorities of Latino voters, as our community continues to struggle with rising housing and food costs,” Frankie Miranda, president and CEO of Hispanic Federation, said in a statement. “Anyone who aspires to lead New York City must understand and address these priorities as Latinos are an integral part of what makes this city the greatest in the world.”

Latinos make up around 25% of registered voters in New York City, Spectrum News NY 1 reported in June. More than 700,000 of those Latino voters are registered as Democrats, the outlet reported.

Mamdani’s campaign did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

Current Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced in late September that he was dropping out of the race. Adams’ decision to end his long-shot reelection bid could alter the dynamic of the city’s mayoral race, analysts previously told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The new poll comes after several recent surveys showing Mamdani, a self-described Democratic socialist, leading by a wide margin in the mayoral race.

Some Jewish voters in New York City are reportedly skeptical about Mamdani’s political rise. Mamdani has previously come under fire for his anti-Israel rhetoric.

Certain high-profile Democrats have held off on endorsing Mamdani in the New York City mayoral race, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Still, Mamdani’s mayoral bid has been backed by other prominent Democrats, including former Vice President Kamala Harris, who gave him a lukewarm endorsement during a Sept. 22 appearance on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show.”

The poll surveyed 600 Latino registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4%. The survey was conducted from Sept. 25 to Oct. 4.
