âThe Viewâ co-host Sunny Hostin is dismayed at a poll that found white suburban women favoring the Republican Party.
On Thursday, Hostin said, âI read a poll just yesterday that white Republican suburban women are now going to vote Republican.â
âItâs almost like roaches voting for Raid,â she added.
Conservative co-host Alyssa Farah-Griffin chimed in as she tried to push back on the comparison.
But Hostin pressed on, âTheyâre voting against their own self-interest. Do they want to live in Gilead? Do they want to live in âThe Handmaidâs Taleâ?â
Finally, Griffin responded, âDo we love democracy or not? Because itâs insulting to the voter. People make up decisions on whatâs right for their family.â

Co-host Joy Behar added, âYouâre not voting for Republicans. Youâre voting for a cult. Remember that. Itâs a cult. Itâs not Republicans anymore.â
Hostin appeared to be referring to a poll released by The Wall Street Journal, which found white suburban women now say they favor Republicans over Democrats by 15 percentage points â marking a 27 percentage point swing in support from August.
This is not the first time the co-host has expressed exasperation at a certain demographic possibly voting for Republicans.
In September, she told her fellow panelists it is âso interesting to me that there are so many Latinos that vote Republican because they vote against their own self-interest.â
In case you missed it:
Hostinâs comments come as polls have repeatedly found voters say inflation is a top concern for voters.
Perhaps she believes access to abortion is in votersâ self-interest.
But in the end, itâs up to each voter to decide what is best for them. And for anyone to make a blanket statement implying they really know what is in one demographicâs best interests is insulting.
