Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) is officially throwing his hat in the ring for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

During an event on Monday, Scott announced his candidacy as he said, “Joe Biden and the radical Left are attacking every single rung of the ladder that helped me climb.”

“And that’s why I’m announcing today that I’m running for President of the United States of America,” he added.

Scott, who will be the second candidate in the field from South Carolina, spoke glowingly of the United States, which he said is the “land of opportunity.”

“We live in the land where it is absolutely possible for a kid raised in poverty, in a single-parent household, in a small apartment to one day serve in the People’s House, and maybe even the White House,” the senator said.

He continued, “This is the greatest nation on God’s green earth… I’m living proof that America is the land of opportunity and not the land of oppression.”

He took aim at President Joe Biden as he argued the country is “retreating away from patriotism and faith.”

Former President Donald Trump reacted to Scott’s announcement as he wrote on Truth Social, “Good luck to Senator Tim Scott in entering the Republican Presidential Primary Race.”

“It is rapidly loading up with lots of people, and Tim is a big step up from Ron DeSanctimonious, who is totally unelectable. I got Opportunity Zones done with Tim, a big deal that has been highly successful. Good luck Tim!” he added.
