Border czar Tom Homan has hit back at comments made by Pope Francis over the U.S. securing its border with Mexico and Canada to stop illegal immigration.
According to the Daily Wire, Homan told reporters outside of the White House that the Pope needs worry about fixing the Catholic Church.
“Oh, I’ve got harsh words for the Pope, the Pope ought to fix the Catholic Church,” Homan said. “I’m saying this as a lifelong Catholic, I was baptized Catholic … He ought to fix the Catholic Church and concentrate on his work and leave border enforcement to us.”
Homan pointed out that the Pope’s residence in the Vatican, is surrounded by a wall, and noted the hypocrisy of the Pope’s comments.
“He wants to attack us for securing our border. He’s got a wall around the Vatican does he not?” Homan asked. “So, he’s got a wall around to protect his people and himself, but we can’t have a wall around the United States? So, I wish he’d stick to the Catholic Church and fix that and leave border enforcement to us.”

Pope Francis recently wrote a letter, criticizing the U.S. for securing the southern border and deporting criminal illegal aliens.
“What is built on the basis of force, and not on the truth about the equal dignity of every human being, begins badly and will end badly,” the Pope wrote, adding, “I exhort all the faithful of the Catholic Church, and all men and women of good will, not to give in to narratives that discriminate against and cause unnecessary suffering to our migrant and refugee brothers and sisters.”
The Pope also made comments the day before President Donald Trump was inaugurated, criticizing his campaign promises to close the border and deport criminal illegals, something the Pope called a “disgrace.”
“If it is true, will be a disgrace because it makes the poor wretches who have nothing, pay the unpaid bill. It doesn’t work. This is not how things get resolved. They are not solved like this,” the Pope said.
