Many have spoken out against Pete Hegseth and his nomination to lead the Department of Defense.
But one important person has still “got his six.” That person is President-elect Donald Trump, who took to Truth Social Friday morning to support Hegseth.
“Pete Hegseth is doing very well. His support is strong and deep, much more so than the Fake News would have you believe,” Trump posted. “He was a great student – Princeton/Harvard educated – with a Military state of mind.”
Trump continued by touting Hegseth’s ability to be the next secretary of defense, calling the embattled nominee a “winner.”
“He will be a fantastic, high energy, Secretary of Defense Defense, one who leads with charisma and skill,” Trump wrote. “Pete is a WINNER, and there is nothing that can be done to change that!!!”
The Daily Caller News Foundation previously reported Hegseth has no plans to withdraw his nomination.
“As long as Donald Trump wants me in this fight, I’m going to be standing right here in this fight,” Hegseth said.
Hegseth has come under fire on several fronts, including a 2017 investigation into claims he sexually assaulted a woman. No charges were ever filed.
Most recently, Hegseth’s colleagues at Fox News have expressed concern about his drinking, saying they could smell alcohol on him before he went on air, NBC News reported.
But Trump isn’t the only person supporting Hegseth as the nomination process continues. Many have posted on X, formerly Twitter, stood up for him. This includes Vice President-elect JD Vance.
