President Donald Trump had a “mic-drop” moment during his State of the Union address to Congress Tuesday night, when he called out Democrats over their failure to secure the southern border.
Democrats had been planning to disrupt Trump’s speech, with some floating idea of using noise makers, or opting to quietly protest through wearing different colors to show their support for various causes, such as wearing yellow and blue in support of Ukraine after Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance’s public spat with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump called out both the media and the Democratic Party for failing to secure the border and mocking them for saying the only way it could be done was through legislation. Trump reminded them it wasn’t the legislation standing in the way.
“The media and our friends in the Democrat Party kept saying we needed new legislation; we must have legislation to secure the border. But it turned out, all we really needed was a new president.” Trump said to an eruption of cheers.
