President Trump mocked New York City mayoral front-runner Zohran Mamdani, joking that heās āmuch better lookingā than the 34-year-old socialist candidate.
According to the New York Post, the remark came during a 60 Minutes interview Sunday night, when CBS correspondent Norah OāDonnell asked Trump about comparisons between himself and Mamdani.
āSome people have compared him to a left-wing version of you ā charismatic, breaking the old rules. What do you think about that?ā OāDonnell asked.
āWell, I think Iām a much better-looking person than him, right?ā Trump replied.
Trump also criticized Mamdani politically, labeling him a āCommunistā and claiming he would be āfar worse than a socialist.ā
āI think heās probably gonna make de Blasio look great. I think he will make de Blasio look like one of our great mayors,ā Trump said, referring to former Mayor Bill de Blasio.
āI got to see de Blasio, how bad a mayor he was, and this man will do a worse job than de Blasio by far.ā
The former president also suggested that federal funding for New York would be wasted under a Mamdani administration:
āItās gonna be hard for me as the president to give a lot of money to New York because if you have a Communist running New York, all youāre doing is wasting the money youāre sending there.ā
