Former President Donald Trump is suggesting his old running mate and primary competitor should endorse him.

During a campaign event on Sunday, Trump noted several of the 2024 Republican candidates who exited the field endorsed him.

However, he pointed out former Vice President Mike Pence did not.

“I don’t know about Mike Pence, he should endorse me. He should endorse me, you know why? Because I had a great, successful presidency, and he was the vice president,” Trump said.

He added, “He should endorse me. I chose him, made him vice president. But people in politics can be very disloyal.”

On Saturday, Pence announced he was ending his campaign as he said at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual conference, “After much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to suspend my campaign for president effective today.”

“I’m leaving this campaign, but let me promise you, I will never leave the fight for conservative values and I will never stop fighting to elect principled Republican leaders to every office in the land. So help me God,” he insisted.

RealClearPolitics’ average of polls showed Pence’s campaign failing to gain steam, with him sitting in fifth place at 3.5%.

However, an endorsement of the former president appears unlikely during the primary.

Pence has previously stated Trump should “never be President of the United States” again.
