President Donald Trump has reportedly rejected an offer to settle a lawsuit he brought over an interview on “60 Minutes.”
Per The Wall Street Journal, an offer of $15 million was not enough for Trump to accept. The president is seeking more than $25 million and a formal apology. The lawsuit stems from an interview on “60 Minutes” with former Vice President Kamala Harris which was held during the 2024 presidential race last fall.
Media conglomerate Paramount reportedly made the offer. Trump’s legal team not only rejected the offer, but also threatened further litigation.
The president claims CBS edited Harris’ answers in the interview to her advantage.
In the meantime, Paramount is looking to merge with Skydance in a deal that needs to be OK’d by federal regulators.
Two top executives from CBS have recently resigned as a result of rumors of a settlement.
Last month, “60 Minutes” producer Bill Owens stepped down and said the program no longer had editorial independence from corporate, per Mediaite.
