President Donald Trump was reportedly not happy when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to strike Hezbollah targets in Beirut.
Axios cited two U.S. officials and a third source briefed on the call when Trump called Netanyahu “crazy” and accused him of not being grateful.
The president at one point yelled, “What the f*** are you doing?”
Netanyahu ordered Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to strike Hezbollah targets in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut earlier Monday,
Israel and Hezbollah been fighting since October 2023. A ceasefire started in November 2024.
Officials in Iran, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, have said that Israeli strikes in Lebanon violate the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran that started April 7.
On Monday, Trump said Monday talks between his administration and the Islamic Republic are ongoing while Iran threatened to abandon the negotiations with the U.S.
“The ceasefire between Iran and the US is unequivocally a ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon,” Araghchi wrote on X. “Its violation on one front is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts. The US and Israel are responsible for the consequences of any violation.”
Trump labeled his call with Netanyahu “productive” and added no Israeli troops will head to Beirut.
“I had a conversation with Bibi Netanyahu today, asking him not to go into a major raid of Beirut, Lebanon,” the president wrote on Truth Social. “He turned his Troops around. Thank you Bibi!”
“I also had a conversation with Representatives of the Leaders of Hezbollah, and they agreed to stop shooting at Israel, and its soldiers. Likewise, Israel agreed to stop shooting at them. Let’s see how long that lasts — Hopefully it will be for ETERNITY!” Trump added.
Netanyahu posted on X he told Trump, “that if Hezbollah does not cease attacking our cities and citizens—Israel will attack terror targets in Beirut.
