President Donald Trump is praising NBC News’s Kristen Welker for the way she is handling the final presidential debate.

“You’re going to have socialized medicine just like you went with fracking. ‘We’re not going to have fracking, we’re going to stop fracking, we’re going to stop fracking. Then he goes to Pennsylvania after he gets a nomination where he got very lucky to get it and he goes to Pennsylvania and he says, ‘Oh we’re going to have fracking,'” Trump said.

He turned his attention to Welker, “And you never asked that question, and, by the way, so far I respect very much the way you’re handling this, I have to say.”

Trump reiterated “somebody should ask the question.”

Welker replied, “We have a number of topics we’re going to get to.”

Fox News’ Chris Wallace struggled during the first presidential debate to keep the exchange between Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden under control, as IJR previously reported.

“I’m just sad with the way last night turned out,” Wallace said during an interview with The New York Times the day after the debate.

He called the debate a “terrible missed opportunity” and explained he “never dreamt that it would go off the tracks the way it did.”

Wallace added, “I guess I didn’t realize — and there was no way you could, hindsight being 20/20 — that this was going to be the president’s strategy, not just for the beginning of the debate but the entire debate.”

He said Trump “certainly didn’t help” with the debate chaos.

Wallace explained he did not want to interrupt because he wanted to be “as invisible as possible.”

During Thursday night’s debate, both candidates’ microphones were muted while the other delivered remarks for two minutes at the start of each 15-minute segment.
