Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) shared she is leaving the Democratic Party behind.
Gabbard posted a video announcement to Twitter with the caption, “I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers who are driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoke anti-white racism, actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms.”
She continues in the video message, saying, “Who are hostile to people of faith and spirituality, who demonize the police and protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, who believe in open borders, who weaponize the national security state to go after political opponents, and above all, who are dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.”
Gabbard argued the Democratic Party stands for a government that is “of, by and for the powerful elite.”
Concluding her message, she told her former Democratic colleagues if they “can no longer stomach the direction that so-called woke Democratic Party ideologues are taking our country, I invite you to join me.”

Several Twitter users shared their reaction to Gabbard’s announcement.
One user tweeted, “As many Democrats have said, their party has left them, so they have no alternative but to leave. It shouldn’t be this way. Tulsi leaving makes it even less likely they will come back to the center.”

It was reported earlier this year that Gabbard would speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
The Hill noted at the time that Gabbard’s appearance was unusual for a Democrat.
Additionally, the outlet pointed out that Gabbard had previously criticized members of the Democratic Party, along with President Joe Biden.
