No one cares what a British boybander thinks of Texas politics, but way to back the loser. https://t.co/pmZxlnA1ah

Bad news for Republicans. Everyone knows you can’t win a statewide election in Texas unless you get your cross-dressing British singer endorsements locked up early. https://t.co/EFL9rQrA2P

On Friday, O’Rourke and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) went head to head during a debate at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Fox News noted they went back and forth over a variety of topics, including immigration and inflation.
“It’s clear that Beto just wants to perpetuate the open border policies and mischaracterize exactly what is going on,” Abbott said at the time.
Additionally, Abbott took aim at O’Rourke over his position on abortion.
“Beto’s position is the most extreme,” Abbott said, arguing O’Rourke supported access to abortions at any point in the pregnancy.
O’Rourke fired back, “It’s completely a lie.”
He added, “I never said that, and no one thinks that in the state of Texas. He’s saying this because he signed the most extreme abortion ban in America. No exception for rape, no exception for incest.”
The New York Times noted the governor repeatedly accused O’Rourke of not telling the facts.
“He just makes this stuff up,” Abbott said.
RealClearPolitics’ average shows Abbott maintains an eight-point lead over O’Rourke.
