Former President Donald Trump cast blame on President Joe Biden for the U.S. Women’s Soccer team’s World Cup loss on Sunday, citing how “woke equals failure.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump compared the women’s soccer team’s loss to be “emblematic of what” is going on in the U.S. today under Biden’s leadership. The U.S. Women’s Soccer team lost 5-4 in penalties to Sweden, according to NBC News.
“The ‘shocking and totally unexpected’ loss by the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team to Sweden is fully emblematic of what is happening to the our once great Nation under Crooked Joe Biden,” Trump wrote in his post on Sunday evening.

Trump continued in his post to take aim at one of the soccer players on the team, Megan Rapinoe.
“Many of our players were openly hostile to America – No other country behaved in such a manner, or even close,” Trump said. “WOKE EQUALS FAILURE. Nice shot Megan, the USA is going to Hell!!! MAGA.”
During his presidency, Rapinoe and Trump often butted heads over issues relating to LGBTQ and equal pay rights. In 2019, Rapinoe openly refused to come to the White House even after Trump said he would invite the team “win or lose” to the White House, according to CBS News.
Rapinoe, who said she would retire after this season, missed her penalty kick at the Women’s World Cup.
