White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is suggesting the Republican Party is spending a lot of time trying to figure out “what they stand for” amid calls from Republican leaders to remove Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from her leadership position.

“The Republican Party seems to be spending a lot of blood, sweat, and tears trying to figure out where they stand and what they stand for,” Psaki said during a White House press briefing Tuesday.

Psaki told reporters the Biden administration is focused on tackling the COVID-19 pandemic and growing the economy.

“It’s no secret that the president doesn’t see eye to eye on many policies with Congresswoman Cheney. His view is that the American people elected him and also many people representing them in Congress to solve problems for them and he’s going seek civility even when he disagrees,” Psaki said.

Allies of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) have reportedly planned to remove Cheney from her leadership role because of her attacks against former President Donald Trump.

“There is no way that Liz will be conference chair by month’s end,” a McCarthy ally said. “When there is a vote, it won’t be a long conference; it will be fast. Everyone knows the outcome.”

They added, “She is a big distraction. I don’t see McCarthy saving her this time.”

McCarthy was also reportedly caught on a hot mic blasting Cheney, as IJR reported.

“I think she’s got real problems,” McCarthy told Fox News’ Steve Doocey. “I’ve had it with … I’ve had it with her. You know, I’ve lost confidence. … Well, someone just has to bring a motion, but I assume that will probably take place.”
