President Donald Trump took to social media early Friday morning after the House passed a bill that slashed funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting.

The rescissions package, which passed by a vote of 216–213, takes $9 billion from the two entities, Mediaite reported.

Trump expressed the importance of the bill’s passage on social media shortly after the vote.

“HOUSE APPROVES NINE BILLION DOLLAR CUTS PACKAGE, INCLUDING ATROCIOUS NPR AND PUBLIC BROADCASTING, WHERE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR WERE WASTED,” the president wrote. “REPUBLICANS HAVE TRIED DOING THIS FOR 40 YEARS, AND FAILED….BUT NO MORE. THIS IS BIG!!!”

Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) were the sole Republicans to vote against the measure.

The bill includes a cut in $8 billion in foreign assistance and $1 billion from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

This will affect NPR and PBS funding.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), said the vote was a “delight.”
