If Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden winds up winning the nomination, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) says she will support him — despite supporting Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the primary.

During an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Thursday, Ocasio-Cortez was asked if she would support Biden in the general election.

“Yeah, you know, I’ve said throughout this entire process that what is so important is that we ultimately unite behind who that Democratic nominee is,” she said, adding, “It’s a two-way street, I’ve been concerned by some folks that say if Bernie’s the nominee they won’t support him. And the other way around.”

“Right now, November, you know this is the more important than all of us, and we really need to make sure that we defeat Donald Trump at the polls” she added.

Watch the video below:

In an interview with Time Magazine in February, Ocasio-Cortez called on Democrats to rally around Sanders if he wins the nomination, “Bernie has said this, I absolutely believe this: whoever gets the nomination, we have to rally behind them, no matter who it is.”

“And I would hope that everybody would do so if Bernie is the nominee as well,” she added at the time.

Ocasio-Cortez has previously criticized Biden’s policies and suggested that “in any other country, Joe Biden and I would not be in the same party, but in America, we are.”

Despite her differences with Biden, Ocasio-Cortez said that Democrats must come together to support the nominee and ensure they defeat President Donald Trump.

Her comments come as some fear that if Biden wins the nomination, supporters of Sanders will not vote for him and cost Democrats the presidential election.
