CNNâs Jake Tapper says he does not believe âany president should be calling any reporter a dumb son of a b****.â
Tapper commented on President Joe Bidenâs hot mic moment during an interview with late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
When asked if his life is boring now that former President Donald Trump is out of the White House, Tapper responded, âNo, the current president just called a reporter a dumb son of a b****.â
Kimmel asked Tapper, âThat reporter Peter Doocy, is he a dumb son of a b****?â
Tapper replied, âI donât think any president should be calling any journalist a dumb son of a b****.â
He argued the question Fox Newsâ Peter Doocy asked Biden was âfairly annedine.â
Kimmel told Tapper, as far as he could tell, Doocy is âindeed a dumb son of a b****.â
âSo, I do not agree with that. And I will say, standards for decency donât have to do with whether or not you like the people who are being treated poorly,â Tapper said.
He continued, âIt has to do with the standard. And yes, I realize that Peterâs channel would never come to my defense like that, so it is what it is.â

Bidenâs comments were caught on the microphone after Doocy asked him about inflation.
âItâs a great asset,â Biden said, adding, âWhat a stupid son of a b****.â
Doocy later told Fox Newsâs Sean Hannity he received a phone call from Biden, as IJR reported.
âAfter years of clips of the president and I kind of mixing it up on the campaign trail and during the transition and here at the White House, within about an hour of that exchange, he called my cellphone, and he said, âItâs nothing personal pal,'â Doocy said.
He added, âI made sure to tell him that Iâm always going to try something different than what everybody else is asking, and he said, âYouâve got to.'â
Hannity asked Doocy if Biden apologized.
âHe cleared the air and I appreciated it. We had a nice call,â Doocy said.
