Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg is calling on Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to apologize to families of shooting victims after expressing doubt over whether the events happened.
She previously questioned whether the Parkland shooting was planned and called Hogg a âpaid actor.â
Greene expressed support for comments on Facebook in 2018 suggesting the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was a âstagedâ event.
She also considered on Facebook whether the Las Vegas massacre in 2017 was part of a conspiracy to enforce gun control.
CNNâs Alisyn Camerota on Friday asked Hogg about his thoughts regarding Greeneâs suggestion she could relate to what he went through.
âThe thing I care most about in this situation isnât so much myself, but itâs the real people that she offended, which are the families in Parkland and Las Vegas and Sandy Hook that have a permanently empty bedroom, that have a permanently empty place at the dinner table,â Hogg said.
He continued, âTheyâre the people that are the real victims here that deserve the apology, not me. And thatâs really what upsets me is that sheâs detracting from their suffering and their experience because she canât know their pain.â
Watch his interview below:
He argued she cannot know the pain these families have experienced because âthey had the worst possible thing in the world happen to them.â
Hogg continued, âThey are the ones that deserve an apology.â
Late last month, Hogg called on House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to strip Greene of her committee assignments over her comments, as IJR previously reported.
âMy message to Kevin McCarthy is take all of her committee assignments away, along with that also, donât support her when she runs for re-election again, and try to get her primaried,â Hogg said.
He added, âIf you say this is not your party, actually call it out and hold her accountable because Republicans always act as if theyâre the party of decency and respect, but would the party of decency and respect question whether or not school shootings happened?â
House Democrats voted to strip Greene of her committee assignments on Thursday night, as IJR reported.
