Singer Jennifer Lopez opened up about becoming Mrs. Affleck.
She spoke with Vogue about taking her husband Ben Affleckās last name, which was referred to as ādispiritingā in an opinion piece published by The New York Times.
āWhat? Really? People are still going to call me Jennifer Lopez. But my legal name will be Mrs. Affleck because weāre joined together. Weāre husband and wife. Iām proud of that. I donāt think thatās a problem,ā Lopez said.
Mark 10:9 said, āWhat therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.ā
Lopez also addressed what is in a name for her.
āYou mean thereās no part of you that might want Ben to be Mr. Lopez?ā the Vogue writer wrote.
āNo! Itās not traditional. It doesnāt have any romance to it,ā Lopez said. āIt feels like itās a power move, you know what I mean?ā

āIām very much in control of my own life and destiny and feel empowered as a woman and as a person,ā she shared.
Lopez further explained that she ācan understand that people have their feelings about it, and thatās okay, too,ā but she feels that it is romantic.
āIt still carries tradition and romance to me, and maybe Iām just that kind of girl,ā she added.
Lopez and Affleck got married in July after previously ending their first engagement 18 years ago.
During the Vogue interview, she also opened up about reconnecting with Affleck and looking for a certain ātype of love.ā
She shared:
āI donāt know that I recommend this for everybody. Sometimes you outgrow each other, or you just grow differently. The two of us, we lost each other and found each other. Not to discredit anything in between that happened, because all those things were real, too. All weāve ever wanted was to kind of come to a place of peace in our lives where we really felt that type of love that you feel when youāre very young and wonder if you can have that again.ā
Affleck also gushed about his new bride in the interview.
He said:
āThere is something innately, magically kind and good and full of love at the heart of who Jennifer is. Thatās exactly the person I remember from 20 years ago. Maybe she sees all the changes sheās made, whereas when I see her, mostly I just see someone who has retained, against the odds, the thing about her that always made her the most incredible to me: a heart that seems boundless with love.ā
āShe is my idea of the kind of person I want to be,ā he added.
