Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Caitlyn Jenner went back and forth on Twitter following the gubernatorial candidateās appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
āGOP support and consultants working to elect Jenner for Governor in CA are playing the leftās stupid identity politics game. A game that sells out our faith, family, and freedoms,ā Greene tweeted on Monday.
She added, āStop promoting this man in a dress and NEVER-Trumper. CA Patriots worked too hard and deserve better.ā
Jenner fired back, āTough talk coming from someone who backed down to the woke mob and settled out of court with a Twitter troll.ā
She continued, āNow your money is being used to take guns away from law abiding Americans.ā
Jenner, a Republican, announced in April she is running for governor of California, as IJR previously reported.
āIām in! California is worth fighting for,ā Jenner said in a statement, adding, āFor the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision.ā
She continued, āI am a proven winner and the only outsider who can put an end to Gavin Newsomās disastrous time as governor.ā
Jenner also said she ācanāt wait to lead, to help and most importantly to disrupt the status quo once again.ā
The former Olympic decathlete and reality TV star was harassed and faced transphobic rhetoric during her time at CPAC, as Business Insider reports.
During her first press conference since announcing her candidacy, Jenner said, āI am a private citizen of the state of California, I have every right in the world to be able to run for this office and I am on the Republican side. Obviously, Iām on the Republican side.ā
She added, āBut donāt put me in this box, like if youāre in this box of āyouāre a Republican, you have to think this way.āā
