Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shared who her pick would be if Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) decides to retire.
On Thursday, Pelosi issued a statement endorsing Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.).
āIf Senator Feinstein decides to seek re-election, she has my whole-hearted support,ā Pelosi said.
She added, āIf she decides not to run, I will be supporting House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff, who knows well the nexus between a strong democracy and a strong economy.ā
According to Pelosi, in Schiffās service in the House, āHe has focused on strengthening our Democracy with justice and on building an economy that works for all.ā
The former House speaker continued, āEver since I supported Adam in his race for Congress in 2000, I have known his commitment to putting the American Dream in place for everyone.ā
Concluding her statement, Pelosi argued Schiff would be āeffective from the start in putting People Over Politics and advancing an economy that works safely and for everyone.ā

Schiff made the announcement he would be running for Senate last month, as IJR reported.
āOur democracy is at great risk. Because GOP leaders care more about power than anything else. And because our economy isnāt working for millions of hard working Americans,ā Schiff said on Twitter.
He added, āWeāre in the fight of our lives ā a fight Iām ready to lead as Californiaās next U.S. Senator.ā
Schiffās announcement came after that of Rep. Katie Porterās (D-Calif.).
Feinstein, who is 89 years old, has yet to announce whether she will be retiring or not.
The Washington Post noted Feinstein is the oldest sitting senator and has for years avoided questions about her age and ability to serve.
It was reported on Wednesday that donors are avoiding Feinstein as she continues to hold off on an announcement about her retirement.
Feinstein only raised $558.91 from October to December 2022, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings.
