Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) is shredding Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for suggesting President Joe Biden might be impeached by a Republican-controlled House “whether it’s justified or not.”

Raskin took aim at Cruz’s comments during an appearance on MSNBC on Thursday as he said, “What a pathetic, sordid spectacle to see Ted Cruz utter words like that.”

“I think he’s a graduate of Harvard Law School, and he is a shame on my alma mater when he speaks like that. You don’t raise impeachment because you don’t like something that another Congress did,” he continued.

Raskin, who was the lead impeachment manager in last year’s impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, added, “This is a guy who supported the impeachment of Bill Clinton for telling one lie about one act of sex but could not bring himself to support the impeachment and conviction of Donald Trump for inciting a violent insurrection against his own government.”

Raskin Fires Back at Cruz for Comments About Impeaching Biden — IJR

During a

of the “Verdict With

👤Ted Cruz

” podcast, The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles asked the Texas senator, “Do you think there’s any chance that a Republican House would impeach President Biden?”

“Yea, I do think there’s a chance of that, whether it’s justified or not,” Cruz responded.

He continued, “The Democrats weaponized impeachment. They used it for partisan purposes to go after Trump because they disagreed with him. And one of the real disadvantages of doing that…is the more you weaponize it and turn it into a partisan cudgel, you know, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”

“I said at the time, when we have a Democratic president and a Republican House, you can expect an impeachment proceeding. That’s not how impeachment is meant to work. But I think the Democrats crossed that line,” Cruz added. “I think there will be enormous pressure on a Republican House to begin impeachment proceedings. I think there are potentially multiple grounds to consider for impeachment.”
