Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) is shredding Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for suggesting President Joe Biden might be impeached by a Republican-controlled House âwhether itâs justified or not.â
Raskin took aim at Cruzâs comments during an appearance on MSNBC on Thursday as he said, âWhat a pathetic, sordid spectacle to see Ted Cruz utter words like that.â
âI think heâs a graduate of Harvard Law School, and he is a shame on my alma mater when he speaks like that. You donât raise impeachment because you donât like something that another Congress did,â he continued.
Raskin, who was the lead impeachment manager in last yearâs impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, added, âThis is a guy who supported the impeachment of Bill Clinton for telling one lie about one act of sex but could not bring himself to support the impeachment and conviction of Donald Trump for inciting a violent insurrection against his own government.â

During a recent episode of the âVerdict With Ted Cruzâ podcast, The Daily Wireâs Michael Knowles asked the Texas senator, âDo you think thereâs any chance that a Republican House would impeach President Biden?â
âYea, I do think thereâs a chance of that, whether itâs justified or not,â Cruz responded.
He continued, âThe Democrats weaponized impeachment. They used it for partisan purposes to go after Trump because they disagreed with him. And one of the real disadvantages of doing thatâŚis the more you weaponize it and turn it into a partisan cudgel, you know, whatâs good for the goose is good for the gander.â
âI said at the time, when we have a Democratic president and a Republican House, you can expect an impeachment proceeding. Thatâs not how impeachment is meant to work. But I think the Democrats crossed that line,â Cruz added. âI think there will be enormous pressure on a Republican House to begin impeachment proceedings. I think there are potentially multiple grounds to consider for impeachment.â
