On Wednesday, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced during a call with investors that the company is producing sequels for the “Frozen,” “Toy Story” and “Zootopia” film franchises.
“Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia,” Iger said.
He added, “We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises.”
Iger once again began serving as the CEO of the company in November, as IJR reported.
The company announced at the time Iger would be replacing Bob Chapek who served as the company’s CEO since 2020.
“We thank Bob Chapek for his service to Disney over his long career, including navigating the company through the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic,” Susan Arnold, chairman of the board, said.
She continued, “The Board has concluded that as Disney embarks on an increasingly complex period of industry transformation, Bob Iger is uniquely situated to lead the Company through this pivotal period.”
Arnold proceeded to say that Iger “has the deep respect of Disney’s senior leadership team, most of whom he worked closely with until his departure as executive chairman 11 months ago, and he is greatly admired by Disney employees worldwide—all of which will allow for a seamless transition of leadership.”
