Assistant Attorney General Glenna Goldis claimed Thursday that she was fired by Democratic New York Attorney General Letitia James for publicly speaking out against child sex change procedures.
Goldis, a self-described lesbian, alleged in a statement posted to X that Jamesâ staff had treated her âlike a pestâ while she was serving as an attorney in the New York Attorney Generalâs (NYAG) Consumer Frauds and Protection Bureau due to her publicly âraising the alarmâ about so-called pediatric gender medicine (PGM) providers engaging in âa dangerous consumer fraud.â The lawyer added that some of the attorneys working in Jamesâ office had âstruggled to explainâ why her public statements denouncing transgender ideology in pediatric medicine were âproblematic.â
âThese attorneys struggled to explain why my public statements were problematic, apparently because they werenât engaging with the issue,â Goldis wrote in her social media post. âWhen the general counsel finally identified an objectionable line in my blog, it was where I stated the holding of US v. Skrmetti (banning PGM isnât discriminatory). She wrote that it contradicted Jamesâs legal position. Indeed.â
According to her LinkedIn profile, Goldis served as Assistant Attorney General of the Consumer Frauds & Protection Bureau in Jamesâ office from January 2022 until her dismissal in January 2026.
âThe Office of the Attorney General has rules and protocols for employees who engage in activities that can impact the work, operations, or integrity of the office,â a spokesperson for Jamesâ office told the Daily Caller News Foundation in a statement sent post-publication. âThis employeeâs flagrant and repeated disregard of these rules and protocols disrupts and undermines our efforts to protect the rights of all New Yorkers.â
Goldis did not respond to the DCNFâs request for comment.
Goldis further alleged that a person she described as Jamesâ âethics chiefâ had warned her it was âunethical to âtake public legal positions that conflict withââ Jamesâ stances. She added that it âseemed he was trying to protect James by cowing me into silence.â
Moreover, Goldis also emphasized in her social media post that she is a member of the same LGBTQ âcommunityâ which âJames purports to champion.â
âI tried to explain to NYAG officials that PGM, by its nature, targets children who defy sexed norms â whom studies show are more likely to be gay when they grow up,â Goldis wrote. âPGM can reportedly leave them with sexual dysfunction, chronic genital pain, and incontinence, among all sorts of other side effects. No one in authority at NYAG showed interest in the concern that PGM may be homophobic.â
âIf Letitia James actually cared about âLGBTQâ youth then sheâd research âgenderâ drugs and learn what they do. Instead she glibly calls the drugs âsafeâ and fires me for contradicting her,â Goldis continued.
Goldis wrote in a March 3, 2025 Substack post that youth gender medicine caught her attention âseveral years agoâ after she ânoticed its practitioners didnât explain their ideas logically.â
âIf maleness is just a construct detached from biology, then what makes a beard masculine?â Goldis wrote in the blog post. âIs there really an âinnateâ difference between a short-haired lesbian like me and a homosexual female identifying as a man? This matters because testosterone causes incontinence in females, among other medical issues. But I couldnât find gender doctors engaging tough questions. Instead they told heartwarming stories and accused anyone who doubted them of bigotry. Murky reasoning, reliance on anecdote, and wrath toward skeptics are hallmarks of a scam.â
James has been a prominentsupporter of LGBTQefforts and transgenderism in recent years. She said in an Aug. 1, 2025 statement that âin New York and nationwide, we will never stop fighting for the dignity, safety, and basic rights of the transgender community.â
The Trump administration has been spearheading a massive effort to eliminate gender ideology across the nation in recent months. President Donald Trump issued an executive order in January 2025 in which he stated the U.S. âwill not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called âtransitionâ of a child from one sex to another,â while also ârigorouslyâ enforcing âall laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures.â
