A disagreement over dinner plans ended in a fatal confrontation that has now led to a first-degree homicide charge in Wisconsin.

According to the New York Post, Mikayla Kloth, 27, is accused of stabbing her boyfriend, Lukas Rosch, 25, during an argument inside an apartment in the Village of Lac La Belle on Friday night, according to a criminal complaint.

Investigators say the dispute began after Rosch arrived with groceries, including “chicken drumsticks, seasoning, and was planning on using the air fryer,” instead of taking Kloth out to a bar as she had wanted.

Kloth allegedly told authorities that Rosch “began pushing her buttons,” escalating tensions between the two before the situation turned violent.

According to the complaint, Kloth admitted to stabbing Rosch in the chest. Authorities said she made the admission while efforts were underway to save him.

She also allegedly told officers that “If they had to lock her up, that was cool.”

While being transported to the police station, Kloth was heard making what were described as “excited utterances,” including comments that “she should have just gone to the bar, and the whole thing was irritating.”

“While transporting her, the defendant stated that if [Rosch’s] parents didn’t hate her before, they will hate her now,” the complaint said.

Emergency responders rushed Rosch to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from a single stab wound to the chest.

Kloth has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide and is being held on a $2 million cash bond. If convicted, she could face life in prison.

Should more legal protections exist for victims in domestic disputes to prevent such tragedies?

The couple had reportedly been in a relationship for about three years, with Rosch frequently visiting Kloth’s apartment.

According to investigators, he had texted her ahead of time about coming over to cook dinner, while she had expressed a desire to go out instead.

During Kloth’s initial court appearance on Monday, Rosch’s father, Michael Rosch, spoke about the impact of his son’s death.

“I am a shattered man,” he said, before adding, “Please never let that monster walk the streets ever again.”

Rosch’s family also released a statement expressing their grief.

“We are completely broken at the tragic and senseless loss of our son, Lukas John Rosch, the most loving, giving, kind-hearted person anyone could ever meet,” the statement read. “We are just asking for privacy at this time as we try to process.”

The complaint also notes a prior incident involving the couple. About a week before the stabbing, Rosch reportedly told another individual and his landlord that Kloth had bitten him.

According to the landlord, Rosch appeared fearful and made a concerning remark at the time.

“Please take my full name, in case something ever happens to me,” he said.

The case remains ongoing as Kloth awaits further court proceedings.
