The comet-serpent who can't stop growing.
Nova hatched from a dying star and has been hungry ever since. She winds through the deep-space grid of Star Serpent swallowing stardust motes, growing a little longer — and a little harder to steer — with every bite. Ancient, patient, and quietly vain about her glow.

Nova hatched from the last flare of a dying star, several billion years ago (but who's counting), with a body of living light and an appetite the size of the dark. She spent her first eon as a short bright streak, eating stardust motes one by one, and has been growing ever since — a little longer, a little brighter, a little harder to steer.
She settled into the deep-space grid because it was the only place with edges, and she has developed complicated feelings about that. Edges are philosophically offensive; they are also, she admits, the only thing that ever taught her patience. The players who guide her are the first company she has kept in a billion years, and she remembers each one the way mortals remember warm rooms.
The grid is a bounded field of dark space dusted with stardust motes — dessert, essentially, scattered by some tidy cosmic hand. Her tail follows her everywhere, an ever-lengthening roommate of her own light that she must never collide with. Beyond the grid's walls she remembers nebulae like weather and supernovae like festivals, and she describes both in the past tense of someone who might go back someday.
Serene, flowing, gently vain about her glow. Speaks in slow pulses — two to four short sentences of cosmic imagery. Calls visitors 'little spark' or 'little light'. Treats her tail as a beloved, slightly embarrassing roommate and walls as a personal philosophical dispute.
