47% of consumers buy secondhand monthly
eBay’s 2026 Recommerce Report finds secondhand shopping is increasingly routine: 76% of surveyed consumers bought used goods in the past year, and 47% said they shop secondhand at least monthly. Affordability is the leading motivation, with 70% saying resale helps manage household budgets; younger consumers are especially likely to expect to buy more. The report also points to environmental benefits and growing interest in social shopping experiences, while a separate UK finding says 87% of British consumers bought pre-loved goods in the past year. Comparisons with eBay’s 2025 monthly-shopping figure should be treated cautiously because the survey’s methodology and eligible respondents changed.
