Alabama Woman Charged Over Trump Game Shooting Threat
Megan Lorraine Utz, 36, of Alabama was indicted on two federal counts—threats against the president and interstate transmission of threatening communication—after an Oct. 5 Facebook post under the name Kase Utz. Agents linked the account to her by matching the profile photo to her driver’s license, including a distinctive neck tattoo, and records pointing to Florence. The post vowed a bullet if President Donald Trump attended the Alabama-Georgia game set for Oct. 10 in Tuscaloosa. Charges were filed Oct. 8 in the Northern District of Alabama. On Oct. 6, FBI and Secret Service agents with Florence police checked the Salvation Army, learned she had left in a light-blue pickup, and found the truck on Midway Street. Utz opened the front door, shut and locked it, fled on foot, and was caught about two blocks away. She was held on an active Guin misdemeanor warrant for harassing communications. After being read her rights she said she had suffered 18 concussions and taken several prescription medications, blamed hacking and malware for the post, and asked how she was going to shoot him; the phone was sent for FBI forensic exam. U.S. Attorney Phillip Williams said threats of violence are taken seriously and the office will act swiftly given multiple attempts on the current president’s life. Court papers note a 2024 local warrant, a theft report listing her as a suspect, and removal from a rehab facility and the Salvation Army. Outlets list her hometown as Florence or Courtland. Trump did not attend the Oct. 10 game, citing Hurricane Isaias. Arraignment is set for Nov. 4 in Birmingham.
