At Least Four Trump Merchandise Stores Close
Trump-themed stores are closing as demand for MAGA merchandise has softened since the 2024 election, with at least four specialty shops shutting down and one online retailer reporting sales below presidential-election-year levels. Tennessee store owner Bill Hays said his monthly sales fell from about $200,000 to $20,000 before he closed in September, suggesting that some customers felt they no longer needed to promote Trump after his inauguration. Retailers and customers point to several possible factors, including Trump’s final term, reduced election-related enthusiasm, unpopular policies and economic pressures. The downturn is not universal: a Michigan store owner says business has picked up again during the current election cycle and plans to remain open.
