AT&T, Corning Sign $3B Fiber Expansion Deal
AT&T has signed a multiyear agreement worth more than $3 billion for Corning to supply fiber and cable as the telecom company expands its U.S. network. The investment supports AT&T’s goal of extending fiber connectivity to 60 million locations by the end of 2030, amid rising demand from streaming, cloud services and AI. AT&T says its fiber households now use more than 1 terabyte of data monthly on average, and it expects that figure to reach 2 to 2.5 terabytes by 2030. Corning plans to supply the agreement through its U.S. manufacturing operations, while AT&T says the deal’s financial impact is already reflected in its second-quarter earnings guidance.
