Pregnant Woman, Unborn Child Killed in Independence Crash

A pregnant woman and her unborn child died after a driver lost control of a 2018 Jeep Renegade on Saturday night in Independence, Missouri, police said. The Jeep struck the woman, a small child and several parked vehicles near Walnut and Dodgion streets. The child suffered minor injuries, while the woman and unborn baby were pronounced dead at a hospital. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators; the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
