Baylor opens season hosting Northwestern State as 30-point favorite

Baylor opens its 2026–27 men’s basketball season at home against Northwestern State after finishing 17–17 last year, including an 11–6 home record. Both teams arrive off exhibition wins: Northwestern State beat North Texas 62–60, while Baylor defeated Florida and Illinois. The Demons have 11 newcomers on a 14-player roster, and coach Rick Cabrera says the group has shown strong chemistry and intends to compete for a win. Baylor, which averaged 81.7 points per game last season, is viewed as the stronger team after reworking its roster; one preview predicts a decisive Bears victory, listing Baylor as a 30.5-point favorite.
