Belgian FA withholds Infantino re-election support over unresolved FIFA issues
The Royal Belgian Football Association says it will not support Gianni Infantino’s bid for another term as FIFA president, citing two unresolved transparency and governance issues. Belgium remains dissatisfied with FIFA’s handling of the shelved FIFA Forward Enterprise project, including the lack of explanation for plans to commercialize World Cup rights and bring in private investors. The federation also wants answers about FIFA’s decision to suspend U.S. striker Folarin Balogun’s one-match ban before a World Cup knockout match against Belgium, after current U.S. President Donald Trump urged Infantino to review the case. The RBFA says it remains aligned with UEFA in seeking explanations and may pursue the Balogun matter through the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
