Blanchet shoots 62, leads Bermuda Championship

Chandler Blanchet shot a season-best 9-under 62, using two eagles and six birdies to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal. One eagle came on the seventh hole with a five-foot putt; the other was a roughly 50-foot putt on the 17th. Ben Kohles, Danny Walker, Corey Conners and Ben Silverman were tied one stroke back at 8 under, while Mackenzie Hughes opened with a 64. Blanchet’s round included one bogey, and he is seeking his first PGA Tour victory after finishing second at the Puerto Rico Open. The result could also help his FedExCup Fall standing: he entered the event at No. 114, with the season’s top 100 retaining full status for 2027.
