Bolivia declares El Niño emergency over drought, floods
Bolivia declared a nationwide state of emergency as El Niño intensifies drought and raises the risk of flooding, President Rodrigo Paz said. The decree is intended to speed the deployment of funding, rescue teams and other resources to affected regions. Official reports cited by multiple outlets say drought has affected about 78,000 families and killed more than 75,000 cattle. Paz called for coordinated action by public institutions to address the immediate shortages and prepare for possible floods.
