Bon Secours agrees to $5.7B Surgery Partners deal
Reports on October 26, 2026 said Bon Secours Mercy Health was in late-stage talks to acquire Surgery Partners, which runs 176 surgery centers and hospitals across 30 U.S. states and has about 16,000 employees. Bon Secours Mercy Health operates 47 hospitals in the United States and Ireland and generated about $14 billion in revenue last year. Surgery Partners shares jumped in overnight and premarket trading after the reports. The stock had closed at $15.75 on October 23, 2026. Deal terms differ by source. Bloomberg and a wire summary put the enterprise value at $5.7 billion. RTT News, citing the Financial Times, reported an enterprise value of about $6 billion including about $3.5 billion in debt and a price of about $20 per share, a roughly 26% premium. Bain Capital owns nearly 40% of Surgery Partners and is expected to retain a stake; it previously tried to take the company private last year at a higher valuation, and that deal did not happen. Ascension earlier this year agreed to acquire AmSurg for about $3.9 billion.
