Brazil's Pinheiro Braathen Wins World Cup Opener
Brazil’s Lucas Pinheiro Braathen won the men’s giant slalom in Sölden, Austria, opening the World Cup season with his fourth consecutive victory in the discipline. The Norwegian-born Olympic champion finished 0.48 seconds ahead of Switzerland’s Loïc Meillard, while five-time overall champion Marco Odermatt took third, another 0.01 seconds back. Strong winds forced organizers to shorten the course, and Braathen built a first-run lead before holding on through the second run. American River Radamus rallied from 15th after the first run to finish fourth.
