Brown Leads Auburn Past Southern Miss 43-8

Byrum Brown rebounded from a three-interception debut by accounting for 319 yards and three touchdowns in Auburn’s 43-8 home-opening victory over Southern Miss. He completed 17 of 28 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 88 yards, and added a 5-yard touchdown reception—the first touchdown catch by an Auburn quarterback since 2012. Brown led five scoring drives across Auburn’s first six possessions and sat out the fourth quarter with the Tigers comfortably ahead. Auburn gained more than 600 yards, including 343 rushing, while its defense recorded an opening-snap pick-six and shut out Southern Miss in the second half. Coach Alex Golesh praised Brown’s efficiency and poise but criticized Auburn’s 10 penalties and a third-quarter fumble ahead of next week’s SEC opener against Florida.
