Tesla Plans Cybertruck Wind-Down at Texas Factory
Elon Musk says Tesla will wind down Cybertruck production at Gigafactory Texas around mid-2027 to free capacity for Cybercab production, but has not said whether the pickup will be discontinued or built elsewhere. U.S. Cybertruck sales fell 48% in 2025 to an estimated 20,237 vehicles and declined further in 2026, missing Tesla’s earlier ambitions; its high price, polarizing design, quality problems, recalls and limited international availability have weighed on sales. Tesla is positioning the autonomous Cybercab as a future growth driver, although regulators are scrutinizing its safety and scaling production remains uncertain. Tesla has said the Cybercab line has not run daily because production exceeds fleet demand.
